Preschool Lessons

Below are simple, engaging, and Bible-centered lessons that help little ones learn about God and grow in His love. Lessons are designed for a half-hour Sunday school lesson for ages 3-5.

Our preschool lessons follow The Beginner's Bible: Timeless Children's Stories. We recommend having one or two copies for your teachers. Lessons include songs, Bible cartoons, discussion questions, crafts, memory verses, and a note to parents for home discipleship.

The Beginning

God made everything, and it was really good. We can thank God for all the good things he has made.

Genesis 1

Lesson 2

Adam and Eve

God made people to work, help, and enjoy friendship. Our most important friendship is with God, and good friends can help us do his work.

Lesson 3

The Sneaky Snake

Adam and Eve listened to the snake instead of trusting God. We can remember that God is good and trust him even when others tell us not to.

Lesson 4

Noah's Ark

Noah obeyed God and built the ark even though it was difficult work. We can keep doing what God wants and trust him to use our obedience.

Lesson 5

The Tall Tower

The people built a tower because they had wrong ideas about God. God wants us to trust his good heart instead of trying to earn his help.

Lesson 6

A New Home

Abraham left a comfortable home because he trusted God's plan. When we trust God to take care of us, we can put him and other people ahead of getting the best things.

Lesson 7

The Visitors

Abraham welcomed his visitors and treated them with great kindness. Jesus teaches us that helping other people is like helping him.

Genesis 18; 21

Lesson 8

A Bride for Isaac

Rebekah showed kindness by working hard to help a stranger and his animals. We can become good friends by looking for ways to help other people.

Lesson 9

Isaac's Blessing

Jacob took a blessing that did not belong to him and hurt his relationship with Esau. We can trust God to give us what we really need instead of taking things for ourselves.

Lesson 10

Jacob's Dream

Jacob learned that God was with him and had a plan for his life. We can trust God and obey him the first time because he is good and wise.

Genesis 28

Lesson 11

Jacob and Esau Meet Again

Jacob was afraid to face Esau, but he obeyed God and went home. God helped the brothers make peace, and he can help us do the right thing when we are afraid.

Joseph's Colorful Robe

Joseph's brothers became jealous of the special things God gave him. We can fight jealousy by being thankful, trusting God's plan, and wanting good things for others.

Pharaoh's Dreams

Joseph kept doing what was right even when life was unfair and he was in prison. God can use our small acts of faithfulness to prepare us for bigger ways to help people.

Lesson 14

Joseph Saves His Family

Joseph had the power to hurt his brothers after they had hurt him. Instead, he chose kindness and showed that God's way is better than getting revenge.

Lesson 15

A Baby in a Basket

Moses' mother and sister were brave and wise when Moses was in danger. We can be brave because God cares for us and wise by continuing to learn.

Exodus 1 - 2:10

Lesson 16

The Burning Bush

God asked Moses to face a powerful king, and Moses was afraid. God promised to help him, and he gives us what we need when we obey his Word.

Lesson 17

Ten Plagues

Pharaoh kept refusing to obey God, and the consequences became worse and worse. The story teaches us to listen to God and obey him instead of stubbornly saying no.

The Red Sea

The Israelites seemed trapped between an army and the Red Sea, but God rescued them. No problem is too big for God, so we can do what he says without being afraid.

Lesson 19

Food From Heaven

The Israelites had no food in the desert, but God provided what they needed. Even when we cannot see how things will work out, we can trust God to care for us.

Lesson 20

Ten Commandments

God gave his people the Ten Commandments after reminding them that he had rescued them. His rules are good and help us live well with God and with other people.

Twelve Spies

Most of the spies were afraid of the people in the promised land, but Joshua and Caleb trusted God. We can trust God's promises even when following him looks scary.

Joshua and the Spies

Rahab chose to help God's people even though the people around her were against them. She joined God's side, and God took care of her.

The Battle of Jericho

God gave Joshua an unusual plan for defeating Jericho, and the people obeyed. We can follow God's instructions even when they seem strange because he knows what he is doing.

Deborah Leads the Way

Deborah and God's people faced enemies who seemed much stronger than they were. God was with them, showing us that we can be brave when he tells us to do something hard.

Judges 4

Lesson 25

Gideon's Battle

Gideon was unsure, but God promised to help him and used a very small army. When we trust God's promises and obey him, he can do amazing things through us.

Judges 6-7

Lesson 26

Samson

Samson's strength came from God, not from his hair. His story reminds us to give every part of our lives to God and depend on his strength.

Ruth and Naomi

Ruth cared for Naomi even though doing so made her own life harder. God cared for Ruth, Naomi, and Boaz, showing us that he is with people who bravely do what is right.

Hannah's Prayer

Hannah brought her sadness and her desire for a child to God in prayer. We can keep praying because time with God is good even when he does not give us exactly what we ask for.

Lesson 29

A Voice in the Night

Samuel and Eli paid attention and gradually realized that God was speaking. We can keep learning, thinking, and listening so that we grow in knowing God.

Lesson 30

Israel's First King

Israel wanted a human king because they thought a king would make them safe. Only God could give them what they truly needed, so we should trust him as our king.

1 Samuel 8-10

Lesson 31

A Good Heart

David did not look as impressive as other people, but his strength came from his friendship with God. When we trust and obey God, he gives us the strength we need.

1 Samuel 15:1-16:13

Lesson 32

David and Goliath

David faced Goliath with courage because he trusted God's promises. We can be brave because God has promised to save and care for everyone who trusts him.

Lesson 33

Best Friends

David did what was right, but Saul still treated him unfairly. Following God is not always easy, but God promises to be with us and use even hard things for good.

Lesson 34

King David

David had many different jobs, but the most important thing about him was that he loved God. Loving and trusting God shapes us into people who can help others.

Lesson 35

The Lord Is My Shepherd

David compared God to a good shepherd who cared for him through hard times. We can find strength in God and trust that he will take care of us.

Lesson 36

The Wise King

Solomon asked God for wisdom so that he could serve his people well. God is pleased when we put others first and ask for help doing our work well.

God Watches Over Elijah

Israel trusted false gods, but Elijah knew that only the real God could care for them. Knowing and loving God is even more important than the food we need for this life.

Lesson 38

Elijah Helps a Widow

God cared for Elijah and a poor widow by providing food when they had very little. The story shows that God cares for people in need and wants us to trust and obey him.

Lesson 39

Fire From Heaven

Israel had begun trusting Baal instead of the real God, and Elijah showed them who truly had power. We should pay attention and keep learning about God because knowing him matters most.

Lesson 40

Chariot of Fire

Elisha wanted to continue Elijah's work and asked God for the help he would need. The best thing we can want is the work and life that God wants for us.

1 Kings 19:19-21; 2 Kings 2:1-13

Lesson 41

Jars of Oil

A widow had almost nothing, but God used the little oil she had to provide for her family. God cares for people in need and often helps us by giving us resources to use wisely.

2 Kings 4:1-7

Lesson 42

Elisha's Room

A woman and her husband used what they had to care for Elisha. God saw their kindness and blessed them, reminding us that he notices and rewards what we do for him.

2 King 4:8-17

Lesson 43

Naaman Is Healed

Naaman learned to trust and obey God even when God's instructions did not make sense to him. When Naaman obeyed, God healed him.

2 Kings 5:1-15

Lesson 44

Boy King Josiah

Josiah chose to follow God's Word even when the people around him did not. God helps us do what is right even when others disagree.

Lesson 45

The Brave Queen

Esther and Mordecai bravely did what they could to help God's people. God worked behind the scenes to make everything come together.

Fiery Furnace

Three friends refused to worship an idol even when it was dangerous. God cares for his people, and in the end he will make everything right.

Lesson 47

Daniel and the Lions

Daniel loved God more than he loved being safe. God cared for Daniel, and people saw how great God is.

Jonah and the Big Fish

Jonah did not want God to help his enemies, but God loves even people who do wrong. Jesus came to rescue us while we were still sinners.

An Angel Visits Mary

Mary received surprising news that she would become the mother of Jesus. Even when God's plan is different from ours, we can trust that his plan is better.

Baby Jesus Is Born

Jesus was born in a humble place and experienced the kinds of difficulty ordinary people face. We can trust him because he understands us and truly loves us.

Shepherds Visit

The shepherds left their fields to see Jesus and then told other people what God had done. We can share stories of God's goodness to help others.

Simeon and Anna Meet Baby Jesus

Mary, Joseph, Simeon, and Anna all responded faithfully to what God had told them. Great things happen when God's people listen to his Word and obey together.

The Bright Star and Three Visitors

The wise men followed the light God gave them and eventually found Jesus. We do not have to understand everything perfectly; we should keep trying to follow God faithfully.

An Angry King

Herod tried to stop God's plan because he was jealous of Jesus. Even when bad people cause trouble, they cannot stop what God has decided to do.

Jesus Is Lost!

Jesus grew up like other children, yet he also understood God in a special way. We love him because he became like us, and we obey him because he knows what is best.

John Baptizes Jesus

Jesus was baptized even though he had no sins of his own. He came to share our problems and take our sins away, so we can bring our problems to him.

Jesus Chooses His Disciples

Jesus chose ordinary people to become his disciples and learn from him. He chooses people like us too and wants to use us to make a difference.

Jesus' First Miracle

At a wedding, Jesus told the servants to do some ordinary hard work before he performed a miracle. We can obey Jesus even when we do not yet understand what he is doing.

Jesus Teaches on a Mountain

Jesus taught that God's children do not need to spend their lives worrying. We still work and face problems, but we can trust God to care for us in the end.

The Lord's Prayer

Jesus taught his followers what kinds of things are most important to ask God for. We can pray for God's rule, forgiveness, help against evil, and everything we truly need.

The army captain trusted that Jesus had the power to help his servant from far away. We make Jesus happy when we trust his wisdom even when he does not give us exactly what we want.

A Hole in the Roof

Four friends worked creatively and persistently to bring a man who could not walk to Jesus. We should trust Jesus and look for ways to help other people come to him.

Jesus Calms the Storm

The disciples were terrified by a storm, but Jesus was with them and had power over it. Scary things still happen, but we can trust Jesus to care for us.

Two Miracles

Two people came to Jesus with very serious problems, and both trusted him for help. We can bring our problems to God and trust him to help in the way he knows is best.

A Fisherman's Net

Jesus taught that God will finally make things right and give his kingdom to his people. We can keep following Jesus and doing good even when life does not seem fair.

A huge crowd needed food, and the disciples could not solve the problem by themselves. We can ask God for help, do what he tells us, and trust him to provide what is needed.

Peter stepped out of the boat because Jesus told him to come, even though he made mistakes along the way. We can try difficult things for Jesus because he is with us and helps us learn.

Jesus Heals a Blind Beggar

Jesus healed a man who had been blind, and people wanted to know more about him. We can trust that God has good purposes even when we do not understand our troubles.

Lesson 69

Money in a Fish

Jesus paid the temple tax even though he did not have to, and God provided the money. Sometimes we willingly do more than the rules require so that we can build good relationships with people.

The Good Samaritan

Jesus taught that loving our neighbor means caring for people who need help. We should treat other people the way we would want someone to treat us if we were in trouble.

Mary and Martha

Martha served with her hands while Mary sat and listened carefully to Jesus. We can serve God both by helping others and by working hard to understand his Word.

The Lost Sheep

Jesus cares deeply about every person, including people who have wandered far from God. We can build genuine friendships with people so that we have opportunities to help them know Jesus.

The Lost Son

Both sons in Jesus' story were wrong in different ways—one through bad actions and the other through jealousy and anger. God still reaches out to us and wants something better for us.

Ten Lepers

Jesus healed ten sick men, but only one returned to thank him. We should remember that God is better than all his gifts and take time to thank and worship him.

Jesus and the Children

The disciples thought Jesus was too busy for children, but Jesus welcomed them. Jesus thinks children are important, and his followers should value people who seem small or unimportant too.

A Short Man

Zacchaeus was lonely and disliked, but Jesus knew his name and chose to spend time with him. Jesus values us, and we can show that same kind of care to other people.

Lazarus Lives Again

Mary and Martha loved Jesus, but he did not answer their request in the way they expected. Even in sadness and confusion, we can trust that Jesus is powerful and will give his people what is best.

A Gift for Jesus

Mary used something very valuable to show her love for Jesus. Friendship with Jesus is worth more than anything money can buy.

Lesson 79

The True King

Jesus entered Jerusalem as the promised king, but he was a gentle and good king. Following Jesus may mean giving up things we want, but he will take care of us.

A Poor Widow’s Gift

A poor widow gave only two small coins, but Jesus valued her gift because she gave with her whole heart. God cares more about the love behind what we give than the size of the gift.

Washing the Disciples' Feet

Jesus washed his disciples' dirty feet to show them what loving service looks like. Helping people sometimes means doing unpleasant or difficult things for their good.

Lesson 82

The Last Supper

At the Last Supper, Jesus used bread and a cup to prepare his disciples for his death. The next day he gave his life for them and for us because he loves us.

Jesus Is Arrested and Crucified

Jesus had the power to stop his arrest and death, but he chose not to. He willingly died because that was the way to save us, showing how deeply he loves us.

Jesus rose from the dead, which was frightening news for people who opposed him and wonderful news for people who loved what was right. His resurrection shows that Jesus has won.

Jesus Goes to Heaven

Jesus promised to be with his followers as they do his work, even after he went to heaven. We cannot see him with our eyes, but he gives us the help and power we need.

The Holy Spirit Comes

At Pentecost, God brought people together so they could hear about him and become one people. Knowing God helps us work together, become friends, and do good things as a community.

The First Church

The first Christians learned, prayed, ate, praised God, and shared their possessions together. We need other Christians, and doing God's work together helps us grow closer to God.

Peter and John did not have power of their own, but Jesus worked through them to heal a man. We can depend on Jesus to give people what they truly need as we do his work.

A Changed Man

Ananias obeyed God even though helping Saul felt frightening and difficult. The Bible shows us what God wants, and obedience puts us where he can use us in amazing ways.

Paul's Journeys

Paul was gifted and passionate, but he still needed other people to help him do God's work. No matter how capable we are, good friendships make us stronger and help us care for one another.

Earthquake in Prison

Paul and Silas helped people know Jesus even while they were suffering in prison. We can show kindness and be ready to explain the good news so that others can know Jesus too.

Jesus Is Coming!

The Bible ends with a picture of heaven as a beautiful, joyful place where everything is made right. Everyone who trusts Jesus will live there forever with God and with his people.
