Devotional

David wasn’t as strong as some other people. He was young, and he didn’t do things that people thought were important. But David became Israel’s greatest king. Only Jesus was greater. The thing that made David special was his heart. He really, really loved God. He wanted to do everything God’s way. He always wanted to obey even when it was hard to do what God wanted. That made David the right person to be king. Israel’s strength always came from God. If they trusted God and obeyed him, God made them strong. If they didn’t trust God, they were always very weak. So when David trusted God and helped other people trust God, his whole country became very strong. We can learn from that too. God has made all of us strong in different ways. Some of us can lift heavy things. Some of us can think really fast. Some of us can do things that other kids can’t. But our greatest strength will always come from our friendship with God. If we trust him and obey him, he will make us as strong as we need to be.
