FAQ
- 01Purple is the color of royalty. So, purple reminds us of our desire to help children follow Jesus as king. Purple is also made from red and blue. Red reminds us of love. Blue reminds us of the deep ocean. So, we achieve our mission by combining deep Bible teaching with love from volunteers.
- 02Every lesson features adult-level theology, expressed in a five-year-old's language. This standard allows adults to learn with the children. Lessons are fast-paced, with many interactive elements that all work together to reinforce the main teaching points of the day.
- 03As far as we can see, Purple Curriculum is world class in all of the following ways: - Our lessons show an exceptional commitment to accurate theology.
- Our lessons are exceptionally fun and engaging.
- Our lessons are newcomer-friendly. New children can participate easily, even without previous Bible knowledge or theological vocabulary. This quality helps us to reach unchurched families.
- Our slides presentations are packed with visual aids, and are well synchronized to our lesson plans to help children to pay attention.
- Our curriculum is easy to access and share; there are no logins or paywalls. Every volunteer can see the lesson plan on their computer or smartphone.
- Our lesson plans are flexible; their modular design makes them easy to modify to suit the needs of your local ministry.

- 04Yes, Purple Curriculum will always be free. We just want to help as many churches as possible.
- 05Our statement of faith is that of the Canadian National Baptist Convention. You can read it here.
- 06Yes! Our flexible lesson design allows volunteers to use our curriculum in many different situations.
- 07It is possible for a well prepared teacher to run a small class alone. That said, we have found that assistants make a big difference. So, if you have several children, we recommend having at least one assistant to join the class. Assistants can do a wide variety of tasks: they can lead games; change slides during lecture portions; help children with their individual needs; lead discussion groups; and respond to technical difficulties. In our pilot program, we had assistants as young as twelve years old. Our young assistants made a difference while growing in their own faith. We also had older, more capable assistants. Our more capable assistants could lead games, prepare main activities, and substitute when the main teacher needed a break. As our assistants gained familiarity with the lesson materials, they were gradually equipped to become teachers themselves.
- 08Ideally, lessons should be taught in a large room that has space for active games. A laptop and television is recommended for slides presentations and short video segments. An HDMI cable may be needed to connect the laptop to the television. We also make frequent use of tables, chairs, and common classroom supplies like markers and scissors. Any lesson-specific supplies are listed at the beginning of each lesson plan.
- 09Lessons can be taught with less than two hours of preparation time. Preparation time should be used to modify the lesson plan, rehearse the lesson, and prepare supplies.
- 10The curriculum works very well if you start at the very beginning and teach all of the lessons in order. Doing so will give your children a healthy mix of book studies both from the Old Testament and the New Testament, as well as several topical studies. That said, our lessons and units are designed to stand on their own. Thus, you can skip a lesson or unit if you have already taught similar material. You can also start with a unit that you think will be particularly useful for your church.
- 11Lesson plans are flexible to accommodate different windows of time. Each lesson plan has enough material for 90 minutes of teaching -- mostly because games, discussion questions, and the main activity take a lot of time. A shortened lesson can be taught in 45 minutes or even less. It is easy to cut out discussion questions and the main activity. And, with a tiny bit of work, one can cut out a game or modify a game to make it faster.
- 12Yes! You are encouraged to make a copy of our lesson plans and slideshows and to modify them for your local ministry. With the modular design of our lesson plans, it is easy to cut out elements to save time. On the other hand, you may want to add components such as songs or memory verses.

- 14Yes! We plan to add new lessons in the fall of 2025 and beyond. Currently we have enough lessons to supply a ministry for two years. We are working towards having three years' worth of curriculum.
- 15We would welcome your insights to improve our lessons and our website! If you have ideas, please email the author, Enoch Chee, at purplecurriculum@gmail.com
- 16While our curriculum is completely free, we would welcome donations to help us to reach more churches around the world. We estimate that for every $15 CAD (or $11 USD) that we spend on advertising, one church adopts our curriculum. You can make a donation here to the church that runs the pilot program. Please include a note that your donation is for Purple Curriculum. Canadian tax receipts (mostly useful in Canada) are immediately issued by email to our donors.
