Here’s a question: How can you know when God is doing something? Well, our Bible story gives us a clue. In our story, Samuel thought that Eli was calling his name. But Eli said it wasn't him. It happened a few times. And each time, Eli and Samuel learned some more and thought some more. They knew that nobody else was around. So it had to be God, because it couldn't be anyone else. We can think like that too. Sometimes that's how we know that God has done something. We know because nobody else could have done it. For example, when we look at the things God made—the trees and the sun and the stars, nobody else could have done that. Some people think that it just happened by itself. But if you keep learning and thinking, you'll see it couldn't have happened by itself. Only God could have made those things. You can also see God's work when you open a Bible. Some people say that the stories in the Bible are all made up. But if you keep learning and thinking, you'll see that nobody could have made up all the stories. God had to help them. So let's be like Samuel and Eli. Let's keep learning and thinking, because that's one way to know God.
