In our story, Zacchaeus was a lonely man. He had money, but he didn't have friends. People thought Zacchaeus was a bad person so they were always saying bad things about him. But, one day, Jesus came to his town, and there was a big crowd of people around Jesus because everyone wanted to be around Jesus. Zacchaeus just wanted to see what Jesus looked like, so he climbed a tree. Zacchaeus must have looked really silly climbing a tree like that, but he just wanted to see Jesus. Imagine how surprised Zacchaeus was when Jesus called his name. Jesus knew his name! And Jesus wanted to stay at Zacchaeus' house! It was like Jesus was saying to everyone, "Zacchaeus is with me. I like Zacchaeus, and he's important to me." So Zacchaeus was very happy. But, did you know, Jesus does that for us too? Even when nobody likes us, Jesus chooses us. It's like he's saying, "I know your name. You're with me, and you're important to me." And when Jesus does for us, we can do that for other people too.
