Devotional

Our Bible story might seem a bit strange to us, because it's never happened to us. Most of us have never seen an angel before. That's because most of the time angels are invisible. The Bible says that God sends angels to take care of us. We just don’t see them most of the time. But, in our Bible story, there was an angel who couldn't stay hidden, because he had some big news for Mary. Mary was going to have a baby! And the baby was the Son of God! This was not Mary's plan. Mary was about to get married to Joseph, and she only wanted a baby after she married Joseph! God wanted her to have a baby right away. Mary could have complained. But, she trusted God. The Bible tells us that Mary was really excited to be part of God's plan. If you think about it, we can all learn from Mary, because all of us want things, and all of us make plans. And, sometimes God's plan is different from ours. Sometimes he doesn't give us what we want. And, sometimes he tells us to do things we don't feel like doing. When that happens, we could complain. Or, we can do what Mary did. We can trust God. And, we can even be excited because God's plan is always better than ours.
