If you had a lot of money, what would you buy? Mary had an idea. Jesus had just saved her brother Lazarus by bringing him back from the dead. So, Mary loved Jesus more than ever. Her heart was so full of love that she gave Jesus a very special gift. Mary had a jar of very expensive perfume. It was so expensive that a person would have to work for a whole year to get that perfume. Mary could have traded that perfume for a lot of money. She could have bought anything she wanted. But she just wanted to do something nice for Jesus. She just wanted to be friends with Jesus, and nothing would make her happier. And, Mary was right. In the end, the most important thing that we can have is a friendship with Jesus. That will make us more happy than all the money in the world. Even if we could buy everything we wanted, nothing will make us happier than being friends with Jesus.
