Devotional

In our Bible story, two people just got married, so they were having a big party. But, there was just one problem at the party. They ran out of wine! Wine is like juice. It's a fun drink. They had no more wine! So, Jesus helped out the people who had just gotten married. This is how he did it: he got some helpers to fill six jars that were really big. Those jars could hold a lot of water! But it was tricky getting the water into the jars. They couldn’t just turn on the tap like we do, because they didn’t have taps. If they wanted water, they had to go to a well. A well is a big hole that people dig into the ground, and it’s really deep, and there’s water at the bottom of the well. The helpers had to get a bucket to the bottom of the well. Maybe they threw the bucket down. And, there was rope tied to the bucket. They filled up the water bucket, and then they pulled the bucket back up the well, and then they brought up the water back to the house. And, they poured the bucket into a jar. And they had to do that a lot of times to fill up all the jars. It would have taken so much work! But, in the end, they were glad they did the work. When they were done, Jesus changed the water to wine, and it was the best wine. So, what can we learn? Well, sometimes we are like the helpers in the story. Jesus tells us to do a lot of work. And, we're not sure why, but we should just do it anyway. Then, sometimes Jesus will do some really special things for us.
