Devotional

When Peter was a young man, he was a fisherman. Before he met Jesus, his job was to catch fish. He would catch fish and sell the fish for money. That’s how he took care of his family. But, one day Peter met Jesus, and Peter left his fishing behind. Peter followed Jesus for three years. Jesus took care of him. And, Peter learned how to do God's work. Jesus wanted Peter to teach people about him. Then, Jesus died and came back to life. He died to save us from our sins. And, when he came back to life, he showed everyone he is stronger than death, and he can save us from death. And after that, it was time to tell everyone about Jesus! Everyone needed to learn that God loves them, and God forgives them, and God wants everyone to be his son or daughter. Peter and the disciples were supposed to be teaching people about Jesus! But, what did Peter do? He just went back to fishing! All the disciples went back to fishing! And, the worst part was, they couldn’t catch any fish. Then, Jesus called to them from the shore, and Jesus told them what to do. They did what Jesus said, and they caught all the fish they wanted. Then, Jesus told Peter to focus on teaching people about him. If Peter just obeyed Jesus, Jesus would give Peter everything he needed. We can learn from that too. God has put us on earth to do amazing things for him. We need to focus on doing amazing things with God. If we obey Jesus and do what he wants, he will take care of us, and we can focus on helping other people.
