In our Bible story, the disciples were really scared. Jesus had enemies who hated him. Those enemies had killed Jesus. And, those enemies wanted to kill the disciples too! So, the disciples were hiding. The disciples didn't want anyone to know where they were hiding. And, they didn't want anyone to get into the house. But, someone knew where they were hiding. And, someone got into the house. It was Jesus! Jesus had been killed, but now he was back! The disciples were so happy! They were happy because they loved Jesus. They thought he was dead, but he wasn’t dead anymore! And there was another reason why the disciples were happy. Now, the disciples knew that Jesus was stronger than death. And, Jesus was with them. So, nobody could hurt the disciples anymore. They didn't have to hide in a house anymore. But, they could go everywhere and talk about Jesus! It's like that for us too. If we are doing God's work, Jesus promises to be with us, and he promises to take care of us. So, we don't need to be afraid. Sometimes people who follow Jesus still get hurt. And, sometimes they even die. But, we don't need to be afraid, because Jesus will make everything better someday. So, we can just focus on doing what God wants, and we know everything will be okay.
