Devotional
A long time ago, when a father grew very old, he gave his things to his sons. Usually, the oldest son got more—sometimes even twice as much as the younger one. That special gift was called the blessing. Isaac had two sons named Esau and Jacob. Esau was the older son, so he was supposed to get the blessing. But Jacob wanted the blessing for himself. So he tricked his father. When his brother Esau found out, Esau was very, very angry. He was so angry that it wasn’t safe for Jacob to stay at home anymore, so Jacob had to run away. Then nobody was happy. We can learn something important from this story. When we try to take things that don't belong to us, it doesn’t make anyone happy. But God has a better plan for us. We can trust God to take care of us. God gives us everything we really need. When we trust Jesus and love Him, we know He will always look after us. So we don't need to take things that don't belong to us, because God has already given us everything we need.
