Our story today had two heroes. Moses' mom was a hero. And Moses' sister was a hero. They were both very brave and very smart. But our story had a sad beginning. There was a king who really wanted to hurt the Israelites. So, the king told all the Israelites to throw their baby boys into a river to get rid of them. Everyone was afraid of the king, so everyone was throwing their baby boys into the river. But Moses' mom was very brave. She didn’t want to get rid of her baby. She tried to save her baby. So she tried to hide him for three months. When she couldn’t hide him anymore, she built a tiny little boat for Moses. The tiny boat floated on top of the river, and it kept Moses safe from the water. Then, a princess saw the boat, and she saw Moses inside, and the princess wanted to keep him. Moses' sister Miriam saw the princess pick him up. And Miriam had a really smart idea. Miriam said to the princess, "I know a woman who can help you take care of the baby." So Miriam ran to get Moses' mom, and Moses’ mom was allowed to take care of him. So, they saved Moses, and it was a happy ending. Our story teaches us to be like Moses’ mom and sister. God wants us to be brave and smart just like them. We can be brave when we remember that God loves us and takes care of us. And we can be smart if we keep learning. So let's always remember that God loves us and takes care of us, and let's always keep learning.
