In our Bible story, Joseph had some really special things. He had a special colorful robe from his dad. He also had special dreams from God. So his brothers were really jealous! That means they wanted what Joseph had, and they were angry that they didn't have those things. The brothers were so jealous that they did something very bad. They threw Joseph down a big hole in the ground. After that, they sold Joseph for money, and someone took him away, and Joseph couldn't see his family again. Then the brothers told their dad that an animal had killed Joseph. Those brothers did a very bad thing. But that's what happens sometimes when we want other people's things. The Bible tells us, "Whenever people are jealous or selfish, they cause trouble and do all sorts of cruel things" (James 3:16, CEV). So, jealous feelings can be dangerous. But what can we do to get rid of jealous feelings? The Bible teaches us a few ways. The first way is to help everyone feel special. Joseph's dad didn't make all of his sons feel special, so they felt jealous. The second way is to not tell everyone about all the good things that we have. Joseph told his brothers about all his special dreams. If he hadn’t told them, they would have been less jealous. And the third way is to love each other. The Bible tells us that love is not jealous. When we love each other, we will want each other to have the best things. God's plan for us is full of love, and his plan is great.
