Devotional
If you remember back at the beginning of the Bible, there was a story about the tower of Babel. God wanted people to spread out and go everywhere in the world. But, people back then had a different plan. They didn’t want to do what God said. Instead, they wanted to build a big tower. Then, everyone would think they were so great. So, God had a plan, and people had a different plan. If the people followed their own plan, they would finish their tower, and everyone would say they are great. But, then they would never know God. And they would have big problems with sin, and one day they would die, and that was a really big problem. God wanted something better for them. So, God made them confused. He made them all talk in different languages so they didn't know what anyone was saying. People couldn't understand each other for a very long time. But, in our Bible story for today, some people knew God. And God gave them the power to talk in different languages, so that everyone knew what they were saying! That way, everyone could know God, and they could all work together again. It was like all the broken things in the world were starting to become fixed. And, we can learn from that. Some people don’t want God. They just want to do things their own way. People like that can do great things, and everyone will say they are so great. But, if they don’t know God, nobody can fix their biggest problems. Their biggest problems are sin and death. So, we need to start by knowing God. If we know God, then we can come together and do great things together. Then, we will be friends with God and friends with each other. That is God’s plan for us, and it’s the best plan.
