Devotional
Do you think you could win a fight against someone much bigger than you? Probably not! What if you knew that God could help you? It would still be a bad idea to fight! God can do anything, but he hasn’t promised to help us fight big people. So, there's a big chance that we would get hurt if we fight. But David was different from us. God had made David a very special promise. God had promised that David would be the king of Israel. David wasn’t the king yet, but David knew that God would keep his promise. That meant that God would take care of David until David became king. So, David did not need to be afraid of Goliath, because God was helping him in a special way. We're a bit different from God. God does not promise to help us fight big people, but God makes other promises to us. One of his best promises is that if we love Jesus and trust him, we will live forever with him. Christians know that even if they die, God will give them new life. So no matter what happens, we know the end of our story. We are safe in the most important way, and that helps us be brave to do God’s work.
